Was Jesus a Life Coach?

Jesus was not a life coach. Christian coaching professionals have not reduced the divinity of Jesus Christ to that of a life coach. Our precious Lord and Savior is the divine Son of God. He came to earth in the flesh to free us from bondage to sin. If we believe in Him we have eternal life.

John 16:13...''When he, the spirit of truth (Holy Spirit) has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but what ever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

A Christian life coach can not lead you into all truth. A coaching session is not designed to mimic the work of the Holy Spirit. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to lead you to all truth. If transformation is what you seek it is God through Jesus Christ, who prompts your heart to yearn for change. It is God through Jesus Christ who manifests in you a longing to fulfill Gods purpose and mandate for your life.

Christian life coach professionals have not reduced the divinity of Jesus Christ to that of a life coach. What the Christian coaching profession has done is point out the similarities between the way Christ relates to us in scripture and the techniques used in the coaching process. One of the major goals of a Christian life coach is to walk along side you in a supportive role as you follow Christ. The support offered is of a subordinate nature. A Christian life coach can not overstep the work of the Holy Spirit in your life.

Your commitment to develop and achieve goals you set pave the way for fulfillment of purpose. What you bring to the table as a coaching client is your agenda. What the coach brings to the table are proven tools and techniques to help you get from point A to point B and so on.

We learn from Proverbs 20:5 that the counsel in the heart of a man is like deep waters, but a man of understanding draws it out. A Christian life coach is one who understands and is skilled at drawing out what God has already placed in you. One of the ways this drawing out process is facilitated is through the process of asking clients powerful questions. There is an art to asking questions. When many questions are asked many answers either surface or are stirred up in you. A lawyer asks many questions whose answers, he hopes, will prove his point. A christian life coach asks many questions that help you pinpoint and reveal what is true for your life

As Christians we have varied and extensive testimonies of Gods goodness and grace. If you knew you were going home to be with the Lord in three months what would you write about? Which chapter from your Christian life story would you be compelled to share with the world before your death? These are powerful questions. They challenge you to take action in fulfilling your purpose. If your desire to write is from the heart you would begin to write fueled by intent and passion.

How to Write Your own Psalms

Is God speaking to you today just as He spoke through King David? Are you joyful, sorrowful, grateful, or reflective? Is your heart filled with a psalm of praise and worship? The Psalms include tender collections of poems that praise God. Psalms also reflect the varied emotions that fill the heart of a Christian.

When writing your own psalms you can, as King David did, express your own personal relationship with God in Christ. Writing your own psalms can also reflect the relationships of the whole community of God .We all share the same sentiments. We all have thoughts of praise, doubt, anxiety, faith, compassion and gratitude.

Study the Psalms of David. Make time every morning to study the psalms. Personalize King David's psalms with words like "Me" and "My". Purchase a Strong's Concordance of the Bible. Look for psalms that include the word "praise". Write these psalms out in long hand and meditate upon them. If you make this a daily habit you will intuitively understand how to write a psalm.

Whether joyful in Christ or low in spirit, use psalm writing to express how you feel. Think of your exercise in psalm writing as writing a letter to God. You may start by writing..."Dear Lord, my heart is overflowing with a good theme..."As you write record all the reasons why your heart overflows with love for the Lord. Share your joy with Him and you will delight in the process. Make a list of the most colorful adjectives you can find using a thesaurus as as your guide.

If you want the Lord Jesus to be present in all your writing sessions remember Psalm 22:3-The Lord God inhabits the praises of His people. As you write your own psalms and extend your praise and worship time you shall enjoy the sweet presence of the Lord.

What is " Christian Life Writing "?

Christian life writing involves recording your precious memories and experiences in Christ. As you walk with the Lord Jesus life writing allows you to capture every divine and pivotal moment. Your stories of deliverance, recovery, restoration and renewal can be used as a tool for evangelism and strengthening the body of Christ. This type of writing also includes penning your own memories and possibly those of other Christians.

Categories of christian life writing vary. Some examples are autobiography, memoir, biography, journal keeping, testimonies, letters and digital forms such as blogs and emails. There are no specified limitations in Christian life writing. You are free to use any form of writing to record your life in Christ. A biblical example of the flexibility of life writing is found in the Psalms of David. King David's poetry in song flowed from a pure heart, they are beautiful in content and sanctified with reverent affection for God and Christ. King David used poetry and song to record his praise life.

Christian life writing is often linked to genealogy. When recording your own life in Christ you may become curious about how the people you know have influenced you over time. If they have yet to record their own memoirs, testimonies, or other writings you may be inspired to do so for them.

The Bible is the divine word of God but it contains writing styles that are important to note. The Holy Spirit worked through the prophets to record the memories and testimonies of our the people of God. We also are the people of God so it is fitting that we are inspired to practice Christian life writing.

Poetry: Psalms, Song of Solomon, Lamentations
Letters: Romans, Corinthians, Hebrews, Jude
Short Story: Ruth, Parables of Jesus
Testimony: Acts 26
Songs: Song of Moses (Ex 15 ), Song of Mary ( Lk 1)
Narrative: Genesis, Numbers, Esther
