A place to shareYou can post anything that you feel will be of interest to others in the Ether community. Post content can include information you want to share, topics for discussion, or questions you have for internal employees or for other community members. You can also post replies to any existing thread that you want to contribute to. For more information on terms of use for posts, please see the Ether Forum Board Policies. The Ether Forum has a Community Help Board and a General Discussion Board. The Community Help Board is for posting questions about using the Ether Forum that you want answered by the other users of the forum. Any other topics or inquiries should be posted to the General Discussion Board. Getting Started Understanding the Post Topics List Troubleshooting Problems Getting Started Create a new post To create a new post, click on the "Post" button in the upper-left corner of the Post Topics List page of to open a message window. Then type in both a post subject and body text. (Your post must include both in order to be complete.) Optionally, you can also customize your post's appearance by inserting emoticons in the text. To preview your post, click the "Preview" button at the lower-right corner of the screen. Once your post is ready for submission, click the "Post" button in the lower-right corner of the screen. Posts with an icon next to username An icon appears next to a post's username if the post was created by an Ether employee. Emoticons An emoticon is a special type of icon that can be inserted in your post to express emotion or visually communicate a thought. To add an emoticon to your post's body text, place your cursor where you'd like the emoticon to appear and then click on the emoticon that you'd like to insert. Emoticons cannot be added to your post's subject. Announcement posts An announcement post can only be created by Ether employees and forum administrators. This special type of post appears at the top of the forum topics' listing for a designated amount of time and cannot be replied to. If you wish to comment on an announcement post, please create a new thread with the announcement's topic as the subject line. Post for a locked topic This is a post to which replies and quotes cannot be made. A post can have its topic locked by its author or by a forum administrator or monitor. Replying to an existing post Use either the "Reply" or "Quote" buttons for the post. If you click on "Reply" button, the message that you are responding to won't be shown with your reply. If you click on the "Quote" button, the message you are responding to will be shown with your reply. If you don't see "Reply" or "Quote" buttons with a post, the post is locked and no reply can be made. Editing my post To edit your existing post, click on the "Edit" button inside the body of the post, make your edits to the post message text, and then click on the "Post" button in the lower right corner of the screen. Deleting my post Your post can be deleted only if it is not part of a thread (a chain of two or more posts on the same topic). If your post has replies or is in reply to someone else's post, it cannot be deleted. To delete a post that is not part of a thread, you'll need to wait until at least 5 minutes after your post was created. The post can then be deleted by clicking on the "Delete" button located on the upper right corner of the post. Understanding the Post Topics List Post topics list The Post Topics List summarizes all available post threads (or chains of posts). To view a topic and the posts in its thread, simply click on the topic's title. You can tell the status of a topic by looking at the icon next to it. The names of post topics are based on the first post created about the given topic. Topic icons The icons next to topics indicate topics' status, with regards to topics containing posts that you've read or not and if the topics are announcements, priority, popular, or locked to replies. To find out what a specific topic icon means, move your mouse cursor over the icon or look at the Topic Icons chart below.
Yes, post topics can be sorted by Author, Replies, Views, and Last Post. The default sort for the Ether Forum is to display the newest topics first (Last Post Descending). To select a particular way to sort post topics, click on the "Options" button at the bottom of the screen, select your preference for topic sorting, and click "Apply." Searching for a post To search for a specific post, use the search box on the top right of the page in the page header. Enter in any word or words from the post you are looking for in the search box, including information in the subject or body of the post, or the post author's username. Troubleshooting Problems My post is visible after I deleted it Once you've indicated you want a post deleted, it can take up to 5 minutes for the post to be removed. You should not try and delete the post again. I found a post that has inappropriate content If you feel a post has inappropriate content for the Ether Forum, you can send Play Fair a message about it by clicking on the "Report" button at the bottom of the post. Only Play Fair will be able to read your message about the reported post's content. For information about what qualifies as inappropriate content, please see the Ether Forum Board Policies. No topics on the Post Topics List page If the Ether Forum doesn't have any active or relevant topics available, none will be displayed. This could be because the forum has no posts or there aren't any topics that match your search criteria. |
